To Jackson, a tourist hiker/skiing town. Then further into the Teton National Park, photo of a Beaver along the way. We cycled 60 miles to Colter Village, after our detour to Jackson. Camping in national park site, high risk of bears here. All food, water bottles, wash items including toothpaste has to be in a bear box. Bit of a performance, but I suppose better than waking up to company of the grizzly kind.
We will be moving on to Yellowstone tomorrow which starts about 20 miles away. Then we will make a decisions about a day off to see more of the park. Our route will take us through a chunk of the park, but there is a lot more we could see if we take our time and get off route.

I have been sitting here for a few hours reading your blogs. Very inspiring and amazing. I will be starting the Transamerica Route in one week with a childhood friend of mine. My mother passed away from a brain aneurysm a year an a half ago. She was an avid cyclist so in her memory my friend Chris and I have paired with the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon and are doing a bike/walk along the Transamerica route to raise money for them starting from the Oregon Coast. The name of our website is www.JourneyforThought.com If you have any advice or any tips youve learned thus far, please let me know.

Hey Sally, I am still following your trip, I wish I could be cycling with you. What a great adventure! Be aware of the grizzly bears, they are more dangerous than black bears. Well, I am not anymore there to tell about the animals like the first 3 weeks of the TransAm. Take at least one day off cycling and do some hiking in the Yellowstone National Park. Enjoy. Take care, Kielo
ReplyDeleteHi Sally, sorry I haven't been in touch......had problems posting here.......can we skype at some stage? Mind the bears, Love, Liz xxx
