Well another strange day. Started off with waiting out the rain in a motel room. Finished with a night in a RV on a small holding run by Gillian. The town of Ordway for a night after a 60 mile ride through the Colorado countryside. We are now in a landscape of bush and desert and very wide open spaces. We are staying with Gillian who lives here with horses, goats, hens, geese, dogs and cats.
She provides accommodation for cyclists in return for at least 15 mins work on various projects she has going on. So Martin and I spent about 30 mins painting a new awning that has been constructed on one of the outhouses. Seemed like a fair swap to me. We have now decided to take up an offer of a July 4th gathering. This has come from the group of young Americans that we have been leapfrogging along the route over the last few days. They are meeting up with family and friends by a lake for a couple if days and have asked us to join them for a bit of a party. How could we resist? So tomorrow we will cycle the 50 or so miles to Pueblo and a little further on to the lakeside for a day or two.

Hi Sally
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure.
Happy cycling x
Hi Sally, just picked up your trip and impressed with the mileage and morale. Seems the cyling is the easiest bit with the stress of finding accommodation every night being quite intense? Alwys seems to work out though! Tony from York
