A late start from Hazard after a diner breakfast, some home skyping and email checking ( wifi access limited). Shorter ride 43 miles ( of more hills) today. The hills/mountains go on and on, Cornwall, Devon or the lakes will be a breeze after this experience.
Despite the many warnings we have not had too much of a problem with dogs in Kentucky. We have lots of barkers from the roadside but only a few who go for the chase. I had one today that kept up a pace with me as I came down a hill. I must have been doing at least 25 mph and the dog kept going for sometime alongside, but did not attempt to jump at me. I think this one just enjoyed the chase.
Below is a picture of another type of dog. We met Delilah and her owner in a gas station. Delilah is a large poodle, that the owner insisted I hold. Delilah had a pink bow in her hair a blue necklace and red nail varnish on her claws/nails, very strange!!!
We are camped tonight at the back of a church in Booneville Kentucky.
Did I mention the number of churches here? Sometimes it feels like there on every corner. Well, we are camped on church land that specifically welcomes cyclists, they even have a sign up outside welcoming us to use there land and shower( cold), but passible. Tonight we had a feast of rice, tomatoes and tuna and a concoction of Martin's (spinach, corn and curry powder). followed by fruit( we found some today) and chocolate( the staple diet of cyclists).
Tomorrow we are heading to Borea, where we thought there was a bike shop ( the first one for about 150 miles on the route), but we rang a ahead to check something and they are closed for the summer! The only other bike shops are 20 or 30 miles off route( Christopher's new peddle may have to wait). It is really amazing how little there is along the route. Most of our food is bought from gas stations, we rarely see cafe's( so not much tea and cake on this ride), and any other types of stores are also a rarity

Hey Sally! Delilah seems much bigger than the treacherous Curly Sue but just as friendly. LOL Keep up the good work!
