Long hot hilly ride of 68 miles but rewarded with dinner at 'HomePlace' This is a restaurant in the middle of nowhere that only opens between 4 and 8pm and serves a set meal for $15. We gratefully filled up on fried chicken, beef, ham. Corn biscuits, green beans, baked beans, macaroni and mashed potato washed down with iced tea and homemade lemonade and followed by fruit pie and ice cream. Everything on the table will be replenished as many times as you like, but we could only manage a second helping of potato. I think we all agreed this was the best meal we'd had since arriving in the US. Photo of well fed if grubby cyclists.
Our great supper was followed by yet another strange sleeping arrangement in Catawba. We stayed with Joe who runs a very basic hostel for hikers and cyclists, we got the barn!!!
Below our accommodation for the night and my bed and meet Joe the proprietor of "four pines hostel".
